Press Gazette's September ranking of the 50 biggest UK news websites, using Ipsos iris data, shows 38 lost audience year on year. The four biggest falls were all Reach titles: Chronicle Live down 45.8%, Daily Record down 42.1%, Birmingham Live down 33.8% and Manchester Evening News down 31.3%.
All four added paywalls for premium content in the past year, while Google traffic fell across the industry. Of the 12 that grew, Newsquest's Oxford Mail led, up 107.9%. In the top ten only the BBC grew.
