Our take

Shopify added Sidekick, its AI assistant, to the desktop checkout and accounts editor. There, it can explain checkout and customer account settings, recommend apps and search the Shopify Help Center. Sidekick also now works inside the Checkout Blocks app, where it can explain blocks for checkout, thank you and order status pages, explain payment, delivery and validation functions, and review what you've already set up and why.

Most checkouts we look at carry baggage. An upsell block someone added two years ago. A validation rule nobody remembers. A trust badge that pushes the pay button down. Each one is tiny. Together, they cost sales.

The useful bit here isn't building new things. It's that Sidekick can now review what's already configured and why. That turns a dull audit into a ten-minute chat.

We're happy to use AI for this. Just don't let it talk you into adding more blocks. On checkout, less usually wins.
