Shopify added discounts to Rollouts, its built-in tool for scheduling and testing store changes. The changelog says merchants can now use Rollouts to coordinate discount launches, test a discount with a share of buyers, and run temporary events alongside other store changes.
One detail matters. A discount only runs across all sales channels when you switch it on for 100% of traffic. Test it on part of your traffic and it applies only to your online store. So a test tells you about web shoppers, not every channel.
Until now, most brands guessed at offers or paid for a separate testing app. A built-in test means you can find out whether a percentage off really beats free delivery, rather than arguing about it. Shopify wrote the post for app developers, and apps that read your discounts may ask you to approve new access.
