Google updated its guidance on AI content on 1 October to match its Search Quality Raters guidelines. The message is clear: AI can help you research and structure content, but generating lots of pages that add nothing for users can break Google's spam policy on scaled content abuse. Google tells site owners to fact-check everything, including titles, meta descriptions, structured data and image alt text.
For shops, Google spells out Merchant Center's rules. AI-generated images must carry IPTC DigitalSourceType TrainedAlgorithmicMedia metadata, and you must label AI-generated titles and descriptions as AI-generated and supply them separately.
We use AI every day and we're not shy about it. The difference is what you feed it. AI fed with nothing writes the same product description as everyone else. AI fed with your B.R.A.I.N.™, your customers' own words and the real reasons people buy, writes something only you could publish. That's the line Google draws between helpful and scaled.
