Our take

Meta has started testing a Facebook layout in India that sends some users straight into full-screen video when they open the app. The classic Feed stays available as a second tab, and people in the test can opt out. Facebook head Tom Alison first outlined the plan in July and said Meta would explore bringing it to the US next year. Meta has said young adults spend about 60% of their time on Facebook watching videos.

It's only a test, and only in a couple of markets. But the direction is clear. Facebook wants to open on video, and Meta has already said it will look at the US next year.

If your brand still posts static images and links to Facebook, those posts get pushed one tab further away for anyone in this layout. Short video goes first.

The good news: you can make one vertical video and use it across Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Test lots of angles organically, find the outliers, then scale them on paid. The brands that build that habit now won't scramble when the change lands.
