How To Use TikTok for Business

TikTok is the latest social media platform that is making WAVES in the marketing world.

If you aren’t already spending hours getting lost on TikTok, where have you been!

Originally entered the market as a younger platform, since the start of 2020, TikTok has been growing more and more every single day with some huge brands advertising on the channel.

We see TikTok as a massive opportunity for you to build an audience, show a raw side of your brand, and target a younger audience.

At Firebelly, we LOVE TikTok; when a client wants to create a TikTok campaign, the team are always full of incredibly creative ideas.

We’ve put together some of our top tips for using TikTok for business that you can integrate into your social media strategy.

Create Fun Campaigns or Challenges

Want to create a buzz around your brand? The best way to do this is to create a campaign or a challenge! If you use TikTok, you may have noticed that dances are HUGE and fill the for you page. We’ve seen some vast achievements from fashion brands in creating trending dances, from sporting events creating fitness challenges to competitions.

The opportunities on TikTok are endless; you need to be creative, put yourself out there and try something new.

We’ve created some great campaigns for our clients that have achieved excellent results! The key to these campaigns? Timing, trends and working with the most suitable creators on TikTok.

Examples of perfectly executed TikTok campaigns

Once you know what an Ad or a sponsored campaign looks like, you’ll spot them pretty much all over the platform! Here are some examples of some recent trending campaigns.

RayBan Elevator Dance

A great campaign by RayBan and simply involved creators who were dancing in an elevator whilst transitioning video clips with different RayBan sunglasses.

AirPods JUMP by Apple

It’s not often we see campaigns on social by Apple, but this one is great! They are going with the angle that you can do anything when you use AirPods and using the TikTok trend of jump rope to gain traction.

Garnier Mask Moment by Garnier

This was a massive campaign for the beauty brand where they got creators and TikTok users to share what they do whilst waiting for their sheet mask to work its magic. With it came a trending song that they created and a massive awareness drive of their product.

Work with creators in your niche.

TikTok creators are becoming popular quicker than ever! Unlike Instagram, where it takes years to build a loyal following, users on TikTok can create a HUGE audience overnight as the result of one viral TikTok video.

You work with creators on a collaboration basis, where you send a product or invite the creator to experience your service or business first hand. You can also ask these creators to be involved in your campaign as one of the faces of your challenge. They will then create the original video to your sound.

Like all social campaigns, you must understand the creator’s audience before you work with them; ask yourself, do they fit your target audience?

Trends

Trends come and go SO quickly on TikTok, so we recommend jumping right onto them; if you are too late, people will become bored, and your video may not gain traction.

There are so many different trends on Tiktok, from transitions to effects to sounds to text. All you need to do is have a quick scroll on your ‘For You Page’ to get an idea of current trends.

We find that the most common type of trend is sound. You can click on the sound to view all videos to get inspiration for your video.

There are some great tutorials on TikTok on creating the transition style videos, which we LOVE.

Is TikTok better than IG Reels?

This is the current debate that’s happening in the marketing world. Instagram bought out reels to compete with TikTok, and whilst reels are working, some accounts are taking off because of it. However, at Firebelly, we would recommend posting on both platforms!

You can easily repurpose your videos for reels but remember to post the videos without the TikTok watermarks; otherwise, your videos may be hidden by Instagram.
