How Big Brands are Capitalising Attention on TikTok

TikTok is making huge waves around the world and is impacting more than we can imagine! 

In a time where the global economy has suffered, TikTok provides a platform for growth (and not just in the form of likes and views). Small businesses are blowing up overnight, unique Airbnbs that are sold out for a year, golden retriever experiences that are experiencing massive demand, charts dominated by trending songs and products that are selling out because of one video. 

We’ve pulled together some of our favourite brands and how they are using TikTok to generate actual sales.

Doughnut Time

These guys have seriously levelled up their presence on TikTok as recently they took on a popular TikTok creator to create content for their feed. 

They took on Hannah Lowther, you may have seen her great musical renditions at Tescos, and she’s now creating regular content for Doughnut Time.

Hannah’s videos have gained some HUGE traction on the Doughnut Time TikTok, with some videos achieving up to 1.1m views! 

Working with a creator can seriously level-up your presence on TikTok; not only will this person be skilled and creative but, their audience will likely follow too!

Asda

In a nutshell, users have been taking a block of feta, tomatoes, and baking before adding pasta to create a delicious dinner. For such a simple cooking hack, this video gained some serious traction and became a huge trend. 

How did Asda jump on to this trend in the real world? They created the ‘Baked Feta Pasta bundle’ where they have grouped all the ingredients you need to make the famous pasta.


Amazon

One thing that you’ll see often is users recommending products that they bought on Amazon. Its widely known that Amazon is the home to pretty much everything you need and plenty of weird and wonderful things. 

Many listicle sites such as Buzzfeed and Cosmopolitan created listicles full of all the viral and trending products on TikTok and where you can find them. So tactically, Amazon made their area of the site with all this information.

The page is called ‘Internet Famous - The Latest To Go Viral’, where you will find all of the amazing viral products found on TikTok.

TikTok is FULL of videos titled ‘Things TikTok Made Me Buy’ & ‘Things You Didn’t Know You Needed Off Of Amazon’. TikTok users are unknowingly being ambassadors for Amazon and promoting their products. 

They show the most bizarre products, from foot peels to storage solutions to cereal dispensers and products that you most likely wouldn’t know exist without seeing them.

One thing these brands have in common?

They are all ensuring that the customer’s journey is as EASY as possible. 

When marketing to specifically gen Z, the journey needs to be worth their while, easy and instant. You need to ensure the journey from seeing the ad to purchasing is as painless as possible, make your links directly to the product and check that the information is all correct and straightforward to buy!

Take this real-life example; you see a poster outside a shop for ice creams which lures you into the store (because, Ice cream!), once you are in the store, you see no signs of how to find the ice cream. This will leave you frustrated, and you may not purchase the ice cream if you can’t find it! Relate this to your online experience for a seamless customer journey from social to your website.
